EVT motor scooters, serious transportation
Our favorite new electric vehicle has got to be the EVT scooters. We’ve had a chance to ride both models, and we are really blown away. Electric transportation is getting bigger and better every year, and we can confidently say the EVT 4000 or the EVT 168 can really do the job and replace your car. Unlike many of the bikes and scooters we sell, the EVT’s require a driver’s license and registration, because these are serious electric vehicles. (Not all states require license or registration, please check your local DMV) This also means you can take the EVT’s anywhere a car can go! These are full sized electric scooters and are rated to a top speed of 30 miles per hour, and we can say they have a huge amount of power. Riding one of these babies through traffic is a breeze, and everywhere you go people will be astounded how something so fast can be so quiet.
The 1500 watt hub drive motor is extremely reliable and powerful, and can definitely stand up to everyday use and abuse. The heavy duty 48 Volt batteries provide a 25 mile trip on each charge, and take about 5 hours to recharge with the included charger. The charger is one of the most well made we’ve ever seen, and it can easily fit in the under the seat storage compartment, along with a helmet and some other necessities. Rated to 300 pounds, the EVT scooters are unlike anything else available right now. We haven’t even touched on the best part though – the EVT’s look really, really cool! The EVT-168 has a retro 1960’s Italian look – Audrey Hepburn wouldn’t look out of place heading towards St. Peter’s on one. The EVT-168 is available in four colors with lots of chrome, bright headlights and a vintage style instrument panel. The EVT 4000 has a sleek, modern body and futuristic styling, and resembles the famous scooter from ‘The Legend of Billy Jean’. Both models are available with an optional trunk.
Check them both out here on our website:, also check out Mike’s review of the EVT here. If you really want to save money on gas and have a green commute, the EVT Scooters could be the answer you’re looking for. They have the power, range and cool factor necessary to be your everyday way to get around. Now that the price just dropped by $600, there’s really no excuse to guzzle gas as you get around.
Its Brompton folding bike season
Now that the snow is melting here in Manhattan, it’s time to break out the Brompton’s. Our bikes have seen a little reluctant hibernation the last few weeks due to snow and ice, but clear sky’s once again mean the Brompton Folding Bicycle is the way to get around. If you’ve never heard of a Brompton Folder, or you’re skeptical about folding bikes in general, then read on, because these are truly unique bicycles. When folded, a Brompton is small enough to take on a packed rush hour New York Subway, without causing a scene. Ask the Nycewheels staff – we do it all the time! In fact, you might say we’ve become addicted to our Brompton’s – we take them everywhere, there’s no reason not to. Anywhere you go, you can have instant transportation. It takes less than 10 seconds to fold or unfold a Brompton once you get the hang of it, and it’s a pleasure to do it. People are amazed when we walk out of the bank or the deli and produce a bike from nowhere in a few seconds.
Handmade in England, the Brompton’s have the highest quality parts, are indestructible and ride like a dream. These bikes are really comfortable to ride, and despite the 16 inch wheels, can really get moving because of the high gear ratios contained in the Sachs internal hub. Brompton’s are available as either 3 or 6 speed models, and can be outfitted with a large range of unique accessories. One of the favorite accessories here at Nycewheels is the bike cover, which hangs from beneath the seat on special clips designed for the purpose. In a few seconds, you can remove the cover from its bag and disguise your bike! No one will know what it is! This is perfect for checking your bike at the coat check in fancy restaurants and museums, or sneaking through the lobby of doorman buildings. If 007 rode a bike it would be a Brompton. We’re also excited about the Brompton B-Bag, a special rolling case designed to protect your bike on long journeys. Mike’s bike has logged some serious miles in a B-Bag this year, heading all the way out to the West Coast with stops in Phoenix and Oregon. Nothing beats riding away from the airport under your own power, with your luggage strapped onto the Brompton’s rear rack. Wherever you can go, your Brompton can go to! That’s not a figure of speech either! A Brompton is the perfect solution for people with limited storage space living in crowded cities, avid boaters and Rv’ers, pilots and world travelers, or anyone who wants the perfect 23 pound, super compact commuter. Chances are if you’ve ever spoken to a Brompton owner, you’ve heard them rave about this wonderful little machine. We have more Brompton’s in stock than ever before, in all configurations and even custom colors like Ivory, yellow, blue and Pink. Brompton’s come in 3 flavors.
Here’s a link to the Brompton section of our website:
The C-Model is the budget Brompton. It has all the features of the other models, like a hand built frame and the easy folding system, but is a bit heavier, because some parts of made of steel rather than aluminum, which saves money but adds weight. The L-Type Brompton weighs 23 pounds, has Brompton specific drive train parts, a folding pedal and fenders. The L-Type is available with 3 or 6 speeds. The T-Type Brompton takes the L and adds a rear luggage rack, which doesn’t impede the folding action, and a dynamo powered front and rear lighting system, so you’ll never be left in the dark. The T-Type is available in 3 or 6 speeds and many different colors.
All Brompton’s can be fitted with any Brompton accessory, including the front luggage carrier block which holds several different types of Brompton Luggage, or a hand made Brook’s Leather Saddle for an extremely classy look. If you’re looking for a lightweight, easy to carry and easy to store way to get around, look no further than a Brompton.
We’ve donated a loaded Brompton folding bike to Transportation Alternatives in New York City, which they’ll be giving away to one lucky rider. The Vectrix electric motorcycle
We’ve just gotten a tip on a great new electric motorcycle that should be out by the end of this year, The Vectrix Electric Motorcycle. The rumor mill is turning extra fast on this one, and we’ve heard great things from some people who’ve gotten to take them for test rides. From what we understand, the Vectrix promises to be the fastest electric motorcycle yet! Check out some photos
Bert is excited; he’s waiting for his personal one in red. Stay tuned.
Extended range Goped ESR electric scooter
The Go-Ped ESR 750 has turned out to be a really great scooter, and we have loads of customers riding them and enjoying themselves. Go-Ped has put out some really cool accessories for the ESR-750, including the Go-Wagon for towing the kids, the dog and the kitchen sink, a neat carrying bag, a removable seat-mounted bag/basket, and a double deck battery extender pack, which doubles the range of your Go-Ped. We’ve also been informed that Go-Ped has released the ESR-750EX, which comes equipped with Long Range batteries. The ESR 750EX is on our website, so if you’re longing for a fast, long range scoot, look no further. Check it out the new ESR750eX
The creativity with our Go-Ped customers use there scooters sometimes baffles the mind. We have one gentleman who carries all his exterminator gear on his Go-Ped, another who moved his belonging to a new apartment by Go-Ped, and still another who runs her dogs for miles with hers. The Go-Ped is good for some many things, there’s really no limit to what it can be used for. Let us know what you do with your Go-Ped! The M-750EX is still the fastest electric scooter on the planet, and is getting more and more popular with commuters and outdoor enthusiasts everyday.
Full line of quality accessories
Seems like Nycewheels has contracted Spring Fever, and we’ve gone crazy with accessories. Check our website or stop by the shop, because we have rounded up some of the coolest electric ride accessories out there. The Biria convertible backpack/Pannier is a wonderfully made bag that attaches to the rear rack of any bike, but can be quickly converted into a back pack for off the bike adventures. The Nitezone LED leg band can be seen up to a mile away at night, and also makes a great safety collar for your dog (Ask Mr. Bailey…) Mike and Joe are partial to the new ‘BikeLight’, which has light up letters that say ‘Bike’, so everyone will know what your riding. This light also has built in blinkers that activate when you lean to start turning. It’s easy to mount and makes a very cool belt buckle, guaranteed to be a hit anywhere riders gather. We now have carrying cases for the Brompton, Montague, Xootr and Go-Ped’s also. Of course we still have plenty of the Bar Hopper, handlebar cup holder, for bringing a drink along for the ride. See all our accessories.
Along with Spring, comes Spring Cleaning, so have a look at the ‘Garage Sale’ section of our website for some fantastic deals on floor models, slightly used and discontinued bikes and scooters. While you’re at it, come pay us a visit in the New York City. We have a fantastic shop on the Upper East Side of Manhattan filled with fun stuff, and test rides are encouraged! Electric bikes, Kick Scooters, Electric skateboards, Electric Scooters and Folding Bikes are all on display for you to try. You can see everything on our website in person, and have a chance to see all our products in action. We are only 1 block from the Carl Schulz Park, with it’s extra wide bike path – the perfect spot to get the electric experience. Plus, we have Austrian Oompah Music playing all day, if you’re in the mood for a little Electric Boogie! If you’re in the area stop on bye, and say ‘Hi!’, and help us welcome in Spring with another year of riding.
