Giant Lite Pedal Activated Bicycle
This summer Giant released their new 5-speed version of the infamous Giant Lite electric bicycle, replacing the 4-speed model. It’s receiving rave reviews from customers and it is one of our favorites here at Nycewheels. The Lite, which comes in a step-thru and sloping tube model, has a very unique system of propulsion. The Lite’s Pedal Assist system is centered on a torque sensor that senses your input, doubling the power of each stroke.
It has a magical feel to it and has been compared to the likes of walking on a motorized walkway in an airport or stepping up a moving escalator. The light weight NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) battery will give you up to 15-25 miles per charge and is removed with the greatest of ease for charging in the house or at the office.
The Giant Lite runs silent, costs a few bucks a year in electricity to operate and has proven to be extremely reliable. The Lite is perfect for a time-saving urban commute, a comfortably assisted country ride, and offers the torque for some you adventurous folks needing to power you up steep inclines in mountainous regions. This bicycle is wonderful for any situation and is rugged enough to stand the test of time. We are in love with the Giant Lite. Once you take one for a spin, you will be too.
Birdy Folding Bicycle
We are now carrying all models of the German-engineered Birdy Folding Bicycle. The Birdy is truly a design masterpiece that folds in seconds.
The ride of the Birdy is an absolute joy with front and rear suspension, 7, 9 or 24 gears, and very fast 18 inch wheels. A large chain ring compensates for the smaller wheel base so leading the pack will be no problem. A unique feature of the Birdy design is that the two main folding joints are incorporated into the suspension mechanisms. This translates into a sturdy, light weight frame with a super-solid ride. With the wide range of adjustments that can be made, the Birdy accommodates any riding style in a matter of seconds.
BionX Electric Conversion System
A newcomer to the shop here in New York City is the BionX Bike Electric Conversion System. The BionX kit is a very similar technology to that of the Giant Lite. It is a pedal-assist system that can be installed on almost any bike, large or small. This system will allow the rider to cycle much longer and is so exhilarating that you will want to ride it every day! The beauty is that if you love your bike, and you love to ride but were thinking of going electric, then the BionX system is the perfect addition to your cycle.
The motor is mounted on the rear wheel, requires no maintenance, can be ridden in the rain, and is thermally protected from overheating. The battery, a NiMH cell, mounts easily to the water-bottle bracket or rear rack and weighs in at a mere 7.7 lbs. It has tremendous range. The dash panel controls the 4 assistance levels, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, and offers 4 generative settings for downhill regeneration that adds a bit of juice to the battery. With a 5-function odometer, battery-life indicator, and an alarm system the BionX electric conversion system proves to be quite the modern marvel.
Birdy-BionX: The Marriage
If you can’t make up your mind between folding and electric now you don’t have to.
Two amazing technologies have been married to make one state of the art vehicle, the Birdy folding bike fitted with the BionX Electric Conversion System. One of the best folding bikes in the world sporting a one-of-a-kind electric conversion system makes for an unrivaled duo. This combo will no doubt blow a few minds!
