1. May is bike month in New York City
Bike Month celebrates the fun, convenience and ease of cycling in NYC. Cycling is good for you, good for the environment and good for New York City. Whether you are one of the city's 120,000 everyday cyclists, a weekend cyclist or just thinking about cycling to work, Bike Month has an event for you.

While on the topic, NYCEWheels wholeheartedly supports Transportation Alternatives and the work that they do.
Transportation Alternatives is a New York City based non-profit citizens group working on a wide variety of cycling issues. They fight for an increase in the number of bike lanes and greenways, increased cyclist rights, collaborate with the Department of Transportation to bring about safer streets, support car-free parks, and encourage environmentally concious forms of transportation.
2. Sign up to support TA, you may be riding away on a Brompton folder
Come in to our store to sign the latest petitions (we support East Side bike lanes!), pick up a Transportation Alternatives t-shirt, or to become a member and enter a chance to win a brompton folding bike.
Transportation Alternatives membership comes with a bevy of benefits. Aside from supporting a great organization, for a $30 membership members will recieve discounts at over 100 participating bike shops across the city. What does NYCEWheels provide for members, you ask? 10% off of any accessories purchased, as well as a free 100 mile tune-up with the purchase of any new bike.
And, once again, don't forget the t-shirts! Suave. Debonair. A proclamation of environmental conciousness and all around hardcore bike-love. The onset of a paradigm shift captured in shirt form. Stylish. Don't they just pop? And other such buzz words that are fun to use yet remain completely applicable. Available in green, red, and white.
We have a new stock of Bromptons coming in! Truth be told, we always have new Bromptons coming in. They fly off the shelves (or more accurately, the walls) as soon as we get them, so there is a constant rotation of new Bromptons.
Everyone loves Brompton folding bicycles. Brompton owners stop by the store all of the time, bike in tow, simply to tell us how deep and unprecedented their love is. "This is hardly newsworthy," some would say." The exaltation of the Brompton is a constant, and if new stocks of the bike are an ongoing affair, how does this warrant inclusion in a seasonal newsletter? Why not also mention that the sky is blue, or that pizza is still tasty?" The answer is simple. We were merely greasing you up in preparation for the following bit of gold:
Click here now to build your own custom Brompton!!! That's right. You choose the features, you select every last detail according to your desires. You pick the handlebar type, the gearing, the rear fender style (rack or no rack?), frame material, color, seat post style and material, axel type, tire type, seat type, reflector/lighting system, pedal type, brake type, and a variety of other accessories.
Along the way you'll be updated with information regarding the price and weight of your bike as you add or change parts and accessories. It's a thorough process, and it won't allow you to choose parts that are incompatible with each other or otherwise redundant. You will walk away with your dream bike. Unless of course you decide to give it a cornflower blue frame and a pink fork and handlebar stem. Didn't take a class on color theory? Blanking on your complimentary colors? Never seen a color wheel? In that case, please visit: Color matters
Yes, we have even more good news! The custom Brompton that you're currently salivating over could be yours for free.
The name is self-explanatory. All you have to do is sign up for the e-bulletin as described on the linked page and you'll enter the drawing!
For all of you electric bike fanatics, come marvel at our stock of Giant bicycles. The most recent addition is the Suede-E. If you like a variety of riding options, the Suede-E is your ideal candidate. It features three different modes of riding. You can ride it in pedal assist mode, where you can either do all of the work yourself, have the bike put in 30% of the effort for you, or have the bike put in 50% of the effort. While riding, you can also hit the throttle to get a boost. If you don't want to do any of the work, you can stop pedaling and hold the throttle down for about 3 to 5 seconds, at which point the motor will take over and you can cruise. Simply hitting the brakes will put you back in pedal assist mode. Could one ask for more in an electric bike? Not really. It's one of the lighter electric bikes and it's high-torque! It comes in three models: a 21", an 18", and a 16" step-through frame. Truly, the Suede-E covers all of the bases.
Are you experienced? Take a gander at this foxy lady:
...And the Gods made love. We could throw another Hendrix reference your way, but we'll do you one better. This is the electric bike Jimi would have ridden! That's right. Jimi Hendrix was a huge fan of front hub motors. Play 'Electric Ladyland' backwards and you'll hear the man himself praising nickel metal hydride batteries. Clearly, he was ahead of his time in many regards.
